Thank you Jane, that was really helpful and I did get through on that number. I can confirm the hotel is still open.

Hi,

I am trying to contact them by phone but it is ringing unobtainable.

I have emailed them, no reply. Does anyone know if it is still open? Very worried as we have a booking beginning of August.

Thanks,

Dave Watkins:

I live in New Zealand & would love to get in touch with an old college mate, Simon Valentine Archer, aged about 55; born, raised & I believe once again living in Westgate. I haven't seen him since mid-80s so I don't know if he has email. He used to go to pubs a lot! Please get in touch if you know him as it would be great to catch up after all this time. Arthur Walter Nelthorpe

6th June 2014

Edward Nelthorpe:

Does anybody have any information on the life of Arthur Walter Nelthorpe, a retired civilian policeman, who died in a local nursing home in 1954. Arthur Walter Nelthorpe b1878 in Wattisfield, Suffolk was my grandfather. My grandfather disappeared in France sometime after 1920 where he was in the RASC clearing the battlefields of unexploded ordinance. This precise and unusual name coupled with his matching age implies that he could well be my missing grandfather.

Orphanage, 1930s

12th December 2013

Gillian Crow:

My mother was (wrongly) sent to a Catholic orphanage in Westgate in I think 1930 or thereabouts. It was near a Catholic church, and run by nuns. Can anyone give me details, or a photo?
